Citizens of the Republic face various visa requirements when traveling internationally. Among the main areas, it is worth highlighting the following key features:

• Since 2025, Moldovan citizens will be able to enter EU countries with a new internal identity card (without the need to obtain a foreign passport). The Moldovan Public Services Agency has launched the issuance of new ID cards that fully comply with European requirements.
• Since 2025, Moldovans who hold Romanian citizenship will be entitled to visa-free entry to the United States. This became possible due to Romania's inclusion in the visa-free program with the United States. Other Moldovan citizens still require a B visa.
• Before entering Canada, you must obtain a Visitor Visa, which grants the right to stay in the country for up to 6 months.
• For short-term trips to Australia, a traditional visa is not required. However, it is mandatory to obtain an electronic permit (eVisa or eTA).
• Citizens of Moldova have a visa-free entry regime to Russia for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. In addition, since December 2023, Moldovans have received the right to expedited registration of Russian citizenship.
