Where can Mexican citizens apply for an eTA

An eTA is not a visa, but a travel permit that is linked to a traveler's passport. The process of obtaining an eTA usually takes only a few minutes, and after approval, the document is linked to your passport. 33 States allow Mexicans to enter by electronic permit with the right to stay for up to 90 days.

The Mexican passport opens up wide opportunities for international travel, providing its holders with a privileged status in many countries around the world. Below are the key features of trips to the most popular destinations:

• Mexican citizens need a visa to travel to the United States. The most popular categories are tourism (B1/B2). A valid passport (valid for at least 6 months), DS-160 questionnaire, photo, proof of financial security and completed interview are required.
• Starting in 2024, most Mexican citizens are required to apply for visas to enter Canada (including tourist trips). The eTA electronic permit is only available for air travel and if you have a previous Canadian or American visa.
• Mexican citizens can stay in the Schengen area for up to 90 days during a 180-day period without a visa. It is important to keep in mind that the ETIAS system will be introduced from mid-2025 (the permit is valid for 3 years).
• For short-term trips to Australia, an eVisitor visa (Division 651) is required, issued online for free.
• Mexicans can visit Russia without a visa for up to 16 days. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after entry.
• A tourist visa (Type L) is required to enter China. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the intended departure from the country.
