The UAE passport provides visa-free travel to 125 countries of the world, which is more than 65% of all countries on the planet. Emirati citizens can freely visit most European countries, including the entire Schengen area, where they are allowed to stay for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
Similar conditions apply when visiting the UK, Singapore and South Korea. Most notably, since 2023, Emiratis have gained access to a visa-free regime with China - a valid passport is sufficient for entry. Despite the high rating of the passport, UAE citizens need to obtain a visa to visit the United States and Canada. The process of obtaining a visa requires a personal interview at the embassy. For travel to Canada, an electronic authorization (eTA) is required.
For international travel, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from the country. This is a standard requirement for most countries in the world.
UAE nationals have privileged access to electronic visas and pre-authorization systems. Australia's eVisitor system- allows entry clearance to be obtained online, free of charge, within 24 hours. The ETIAS system, which will be in force for Schengen travel from 2025, will also apply to UAE nationals. However, the process will be simplified and with a high percentage of automatic approval.
