- Turkey – transit through Istanbul is permitted without a visa for 24 hours with a ticket to a third country.
From 2025, the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) will be introduced for short-term trips to the Schengen area. Finnish citizens are required to obtain this permit to visit countries outside the EU/Schengen. In parallel, the Entry/Exit System (EES) automatically records entry and exit dates.
The Finns use the ESTA system for visa-free travel, but since 2025, biometric data requirements have been tightened. Travelers must update the information when changing their passport or civil status.
