What you need to know before leaving
Among the most relevant international travel destinations, we can highlight:
- Since 2017, Georgian citizens with biometric passports have the right to visa-free entry to the Schengen area. This allows them to stay in the EU for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Since 2024, authorization through ETIAS is required.
- A visa is required to enter the United States. It is issued for 3 years. However, at the discretion of the consul, it can be granted for 5 or 10 years, depending on the type of request.
- A visa is not required for short-term visits to Australia. You need to obtain an electronic permit (eVisa or eTA).
- Georgians can enter Russia without a visa, but new restrictions came into force on January 1, 2025. Now they can stay in the Russian Federation without a visa for only 90 days during the year, instead of the previous 90 days every 180 days.
