Since 2023, South Korea has strengthened its passport by restoring visa-free travel with China and expanding agreements with ASEAN countries. Compared to 2015, the number of visa-free destinations has increased by 27%. Citizens of the Republic can stay in Schengen countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period without additional permits.
South Koreans can visit the United States under the Visa Waiver Program, applying for an ESTA electronic permit. One of the main conditions is a biometric passport issued after 2006.
To enter the Russian Federation, citizens of South Korea require a visa, issued through consulates. In this case, an invitation from the host or travel agency is required, as well as medical insurance with coverage of at least €30,000.
