Decisions in the migration policy of any country are made based on data on the current situation and trends. That is why the UN and other organizations publish fresh figures every year.
The ranking of countries by the number of migrants reflects the scale of international migration and gives an idea of which States are the main centers of attraction or, conversely, the exodus of the population. The indicator essentially evaluates the economic, social and geopolitical impact of migration on individual countries and regions. The high level of migrants in the country may indicate attractive living and working conditions, while negative figures indicate an outflow of population.
The calculation includes both legal migrants and those who moved to another country for economic, political, and humanitarian reasons. Of course, the dynamics are strongly influenced by military conflicts and economic crises.
