By becoming a citizen of Montenegro, a person gains the ability to visit 73 countries worldwide without needing a visa. The country plans to join the EU in 2025, which means that Montenegrin passport holders will automatically become EU citizens. Montenegro has created favorable economic conditions for business development. The internal identity document is a plastic ID card with biometric data. The passport, which allows for unrestricted travel abroad, is a booklet with a bright burgundy cover. In the center is the national coat of arms, and above it, the country's name is written in Montenegrin and English.
