Persons married to a local resident, as well as investors, can apply for citizenship of Kazakhstan. For a separate category of applicants there is an accelerated procedure for the registration of an identity card. It includes former subjects of the republic, citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus, as well as applicants with Kazakh roots and immigrants who received residence for special merits. Victims of political repressions and their relatives can obtain a certificate under a simplified scheme.
