Citizenship of Italy

The Italian passport is ranked in the second category of the world's most powerful passports, allowing entry to 150 countries without a visa. In addition to visa-free travel, Italian citizenship grants the relocant the right to live, work, and study freely in any EU country. Moreover, citizenship can be easily passed on to children.

To obtain the right to apply for citizenship, a relocant must legally and continuously reside in the country with a regular residence permit for a period corresponding to their situation, registered in the permanent population register. During this residency period, there must be no interruptions with stays abroad exceeding the allowed durations. Otherwise, the registration may be canceled, and the required residency period will restart from the new registration date, making it impossible to combine previous periods of stay in the country.
