Residence Permit of Grenada

Grenada allows to enter and stay in the country without a visa for a period of up to 90 days. For residents of some states (for example, the UK), the period is increased to 180 days. With a visa you can stay in Grenada for 90 to 180 days. If you exceed this period, you must obtain a permit that justifies a long stay. After 3 years of legal stay in the country, a foreigner can apply for permanent residence.

Persons who have a residence permit receive the right of permanent residence in the country. However, for employment, one will need to obtain an appropriate license from the Employment Department.

To obtain a permanent or temporary permit, it is necessary to comply with the requirements of the relevant program and prepare the applicant's file to be submitted to the competent state bodies.

Types of residence permit

In order to reside in Grenada for more than 90 days for training purposes, employment or business, an appropriate residence permit must be issued. It is mandatory to obtain a permit for a long stay in the country in advance, before the trip. This can be accomplished at the Consulate of Grenada.

Currently, the Government of the Kingdom offers 2 residence permit programs – through investment and through residence.

Financial programs allow the individual to obtain permanent residence and citizenship after only 3-6 months. Without financial investments, a foreign citizen can apply for permanent residence after 3 years of legal residence.

Residence permit when buying real estate

If a foreigner plans to buy real estate in Grenada, the government is ready to immediately grant citizenship. In order to obtain legal status, you must make a transaction of at least $220,000. The real estate must be approved by the government. As a rule, the list includes hotels, villas and urban infrastructure.

The status of citizen can be obtained by all members of the investor's family, up to grandparents. At the same time, citizenship is inherited and the children of the resident automatically receive the status of a citizen. An additional advantage is the possibility of a return on investment. After 5 years, the right to sell the property appears.

The relevant residence permit and subsequent citizenship are granted within a period of 4 to 6 months.
