Residence Permit of Cyprus

A residence permit of the Republic of Cyprus allows for a long stay in the country, receiving an education, working, purchasing real estate, opening accounts in local banks, and more.

After 7 years of residing in the Republic, a foreign citizen can apply for citizenship.

Types of Residence Permits

Following other European countries, the Republic of Cyprus is tightening the rules for obtaining residency. Currently, there are several different types of residence permits available to immigrants:

• For financially independent individuals and digital nomads
• Employment in the country
  
• Marriage
  
• Family reunification
  
• Education
  

In most cases, a foreign citizen receives a permanent residence permit.

However, residents cannot leave the territory of the Republic for more than 3 months. Otherwise, the status is annulled. The exception is for investors.
