Belgium is one of the highly developed countries of the European Union, having ratified the Schengen Agreement in 1985. For this reason, entry into the Kingdom for Russians is possible on the condition that a Schengen visa is obtained. This visa allows not only visits to Belgium but also to other Schengen countries without excessive bureaucratic formalities.
How to obtain a visa to Belgium
A short-term visa, category "C", is granted to those who come to Belgium for up to 90 days and plan to visit friends, see local sights as tourists, participate in scientific events, or establish business connections with partners. A long-term visa, category "D", is issued to applicants who plan to stay in the Kingdom for more than 90 days within a half-year for purposes such as studying, employment, medical treatment, or caring for a close relative. However, currently, only the long-term entry permit is available to Russians, as the issuance of short-term visas has been suspended. Visiting Belgium for a short period is possible only in cases of urgent necessity.
The processing time for documents to the Kingdom of Belgium ranges from 15 to 45 calendar days. In Moscow, the procedure can be initiated at the visa center (Shchipok Street, 11, building 1) or at the Belgian diplomatic mission (Malaya Molchanovka Street, 7).
