Passport of Austria

The identity document of an Austrian citizen has a burgundy cover with the national coat of arms of the republic placed in the center. On the front cover, there are inscriptions in German – "EUROPÄISCHE UNION" and "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH," indicating the country's membership in the European Union. Below the coat of arms is the word "Reisepass," meaning "passport." Austrian identity documents comply with European biometric standards, as indicated by a special symbol at the bottom of the cover. The visual design of the internal pages is kept in a traditional style, with the coats of arms of the federal states depicted on each spread. The passport is valid for ten years for adult citizens.
