Visa to Spain

Spain is the largest country located on the Iberian Peninsula. For many Russians, the Spanish Kingdom is one of the most popular ways to integrate into the European way of life. The local authorities try to create all conditions so that foreign guests can rest, study, and work in Spain. However, not every Russian can adapt to the realities they face after moving. The Kingdom has a specific climate (hot and scorching in summer, cold and humid in winter). Tough competition in the labor market creates difficulties for qualified specialists in finding suitable positions. To open a business in the Kingdom, foreigners need significant investments.

A Schengen visa is a mandatory document for Russians who intend to come to Spain for a short period. The country joined the EU back in 1986 and ratified the agreement on simplified passport and visa control between European countries in 1995. Like other Schengen Agreement countries, the Spanish authorities have provided standard formats for legal border crossing – category “C” and “D” visas. The first document allows staying in the country for no more than 90 days in six months, while the second is issued for a period of more than 90 days in a year. Holders of a Schengen visa from Russia can freely visit other European countries that have simplified the entry regime among themselves (except for Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and the Czech Republic).

Currently, representatives of the Spanish diplomatic mission allow most categories of applicants to cross the national border. The Kingdom's authorities have not imposed official bans on issuing visas to compatriots. However, direct air communication between Moscow and Madrid has been canceled, so the Kingdom's border will have to be crossed in transit.

The standard period for reviewing visa documents ranges from 15 to 45 working days. The entry permit is issued by the Consulate General of Spain (31/1 Stremyanny Pereulok, Moscow). Documents can be submitted by appointment (online) through the visa center, which is located at 52, building 7, Kosmodamianskaya Embankment, Moscow.
