Bulgarian citizenship means the status of a full-fledged European citizen, the guarantees of which are laid down in the Constitution. Since 2007 Bulgaria has been admitted to the European Union under the Treaty of Rome, which gave Bulgarians the same rights as other EU citizens. The passport certifies the identity of the citizen as a part of the community not only of the country, but of the whole EU. With it one can live in any of the countries of the Union, be officially employed on general terms with European wages, run a business, bringing it to the international level.
