Albanian Citizenship Law
The law "On Citizenship of the Republic of Albania" is in force in the State. This is the main regulatory legal act, in accordance with which a passport is provided. The law establishes the grounds for its acquisition. It follows from the provisions of the standard that the country has the right of blood and the right of soil. This means that a child can obtain citizenship by being related to an Albanian or by being born on the territory of the state, even if his parents do not have an Albanian passport.
Additionally, the standard establishes the grounds on which an identity card can be taken away. Such a decision is made if a person has consciously refused it, or both parents of a minor child want it that way. At the same time, they are ready to provide confirmation that another country will provide him with their passport.
Giving up an Albanian passport does not deprive him of it forever. The law allows you to restore it. To do this, you must apply for naturalization. The standard does not prohibit having 2 passports of different countries at once. However, it is necessary to take into account not only the Albanian legislation, but also the regulations in force in the second State.
Passport documents
The list of documents required to obtain a passport is reflected on the official website of the Albanian Migration Service. In order for the request to be considered, the applicant must provide:
- a completed application addressed to the President of Albania;
- confirmation of the basis for issuing an Albanian passport;
- proof of residence on the territory of the State;
- demonstration of language proficiency;

How much does an Albanian passport cost?
A state fee is charged for issuing a passport. Its size is 60€. However, the applicant must be prepared for additional expenses. Funds may be required to issue papers confirming the right to citizenship, pay for legal services, take an exam, pay state fees for obtaining a long-term visa and residence permit. The total cost of the procedure will be at least 500€.
